About Us

What to do if you think that the result that you have received in a GCSE, A-level or (G)NVQ examination is wrong:

Complain to your examining centre (school or college). They will initiate a results enquiry.

If you are a private candidate, complain directly to the awarding body that set your exam. If you are dissatisfied with the outcome you must lodge an appeal with the awarding body within two weeks of receiving the outcome of your enquiry. You may also be able to obtain a copy of your exam script from the awarding body. This can also be undertaken through your school or college unless you are a private candidate.  Applications for appeals must be returned to the awarding bodies by September 20 for summer exams, February 15 for November/winter exams and March 31 for January/winter exams.

If you are still dissatisfied you can appeal to the independent examinations appeals board (EAB): Appeals manager, EAB, 83 Piccadilly, London W1J 8QA (Tel: 020 7509 5995). Formal application to appeal to the EAB must be made within three weeks of the date you received the awarding body's outcome.

If you are unhappy with the way the EAB has handled your case you can ask Madeleine Moon MP to refer your case to the parliamentary ombudsman
