BE PREPARED FOR FLOODING

WARNS BRIDGEND MP

Madeleine Moon MP urges constituents, households and businesses, to take action and be prepared in advance of flooding in specific ‘risk’ areas in the constituency.

Mrs Moon said:

“The Environment Agency Wales is starting a mailing campaign contacting constituents in risk areas to encourage them to sign up to their flood warning service – Floodline Warnings Direct.  Their campaign will be promoted widely in the local press and on regional radio in the next few months.”

The Floodline Warnings Direct service is a Free flood warning service that provides warnings direct to customers 24 hours a day. You can be contacted by telephone, mobile,  fax or pager.  It replaces the older automated voice messaging system (AVM), which has been used to send out flood warnings direct to the public since 1996.

Madeleine added: “You can find out if you are in a flood risk area and how to protect yourself and your home by accessing the Environment Agency Wales website or ring Floodline.  If you are living in a flood risk area it is important to be prepared in advance and I urge those people to take action and register with Floodline Warnings Direct now.” To contact the Environment Agency Wales for more information call Floodline 0845 988 1188 or visit their website at www.environment-agency.gov.uk/floodline
