Madeleine Moon MP voices concerns over closure of ‘Inspirational Youth Project’.

Bridgend MP Madeleine Moon MP has once again raised the issue of the likely closure of Kenfig Pyle Community Youth project in Culture, Media and Sport questions in the House of Commons this week.

Mrs Moon said;

“In a recent national poll, Kenfig Pyle Community Youth was acknowledged as the most inspirational project involving working with young people, but it will close later this year unless new funding can be found.

“People in the area are rightly concerned about the sustainability of good quality projects such as KPCY that have been funded through the National Lottery.”

Mrs Moon asked whether the Government could look at opening prizes that go unclaimed every week and making that money available to help projects such as KPCY, which she added has been so critical in cutting crime in the community.

“Representatives of KPCY will be meeting with myself and The Secretary of State for Culture Media and Sport, Tessa Jowell MP next month in Westminster and will be utilising the time to discuss the options that are available.

“I hope that we can gain something positive from the meeting as the closure of the project would be a huge loss to the whole community.”
