A
group of local students have been awarded a ‘Respect’ award for their courage in standing up against anti-social
behaviour in Bridgend.
The
pupils from Bryntirion Comprehensive came to the assistance of a female person being assaulted in the street.
There
were over 700 nominations from across the country and the winners will be receiving a cheque for £1,000 to spend improving
the local area.
Bridgend
MP Madeleine Moon said: “I am immensely proud of this young group who have set an example to adults and fellow pupils
and have shown that not all young people are anti-social and some are willing to tackle crime while adults stand by.”
The
local winners are to be presented with their award and cheque on Thursday 19th April in Birmingham.
